In spring, the gardens are a mass of colour, blossoming with snowdrops, daffodils, including heritage daffodil varieties. In the woodland areas we have over 120 varieties of rhododendrons, azaleas and magnolias. But the real showstoppers are our displays of tulips. We plant over 20,000 bulbs which burst into bloom in the springtime, a real treat for the senses!
In summer, herbaceous perennials such as iris, peonies and delphinium delight and the formal beds are brimming with colour from the dahlias.
In autumn, the acers and maples put on a vibrant display with their beautiful foliage, graceful habits and autumn colours. The woodland borders are dotted with colchicums, commonly known as Autumn Crocus, for added colour and seasonal interest.
In winter, the Gardens are filled with drifts of snowdrops, hellebores along with the intense fragrance of daphnes and viburnums. A frosty walk to admire the topiary of our Victorian Garden is also a must!
